WAA ACTION ALERT!!!
Some Lawmakers Will Be Proposing To Add WA State Sales Tax To Services – Including Accounting And Tax Preparation Services By Acting Now, You Can Stop This From Happening!
YES, a number of state lawmakers are talking about extending the state’s sales taxes many services that are not currently subject to sales tax. This would include adding sales tax to accounting and tax preparation services as a way to partially address the state’s $3+ billion budget problem. This will increase your tax and accounting service fees by up to 9% and significantly increase your state tax collecting and reporting obligations. YOU can help stop this from happening by doing TWO VERY IMPORTANT things:

You, everyone in your office, your family members, their family members, and ask everyone you know, to write a letter to their four key state legislators expressing their opposition to this proposal to extending the state's sales taxes to services. Send a letter to your clients ASAP urging them to write to their four key state legislators and expressing their opposition to extending the state's sales taxes to services. There are two sample letters for you to choose from:

Need to find your Legislators? Finding and Contracting Your Legislators
You can identify your legislators – one state Senator and two state Representatives – via the Internet by clicking on the following link or going to the following web site, putting in your address (you do not need the extra 4 zip code numbers to make this work), and clicking on “Find My District”: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/Default.aspx If you do not have success using this Internet site to find your legislators, you can call 1-800-562-6000 between 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday (except holidays) and, when the Legislature is in session, from 8am to 8pm and from 9AM to 1PM on Saturday. The legislative attendant can help you identify your legislators.
